Installing the Power Solar Metal Halide Light

Hanging Power Solar Light over Tank1) Prepare Canopy that can be used to hang the Hood

2) Hang the Hood below the canopy with Hanging Wires

3) If needed, use Hanging Wires to adjust height of Hood

4) Connect Power Cable leading from Hood to the Outlet of Remote Ballast

5) Then connect the Power Cable leading from the Ballast to an Electrical Outlet (receptacle)

6) It is recommended that the height of the Canopy be higher than 12" from the Tank Surface

Safety Instructions for Power Solar Metal Halide Light

* Make sure that your electrical voltage is the same as the voltage listed on the label of the ballast and hood

* Always use a properly grounded electrical outlet

* To avoid electrical shock and/or electrical short, use a drip loop to prevent water travel along the power cord

* Ensure metal halide lighting system is securely installed before operation

* If an extension cord is necessary, use a cord with proper rating to avoid overheating

* Unplug power cord when removing lighting system unit for maintenance or replacing light bulb. Wait at least 20 minutes for the lighting system unit to cool before removing or replacing

* Lighting system (hood) must be positioned at least 12" (30 cm) above an open-topped tank surface

Power Solar Metal Halide Light Features

* Metal Halide Lamps are the most intense form of lighting in maintaining a successful marine invertebrate aquarium
* They are extremely powerful and usually prove very successful
* Lamps (bulbs) need to be replaced every 12 months to maintain maximum efficiency
* The color rendering of Metal Halide light is excellent and the lumen output is very high
*
Metal Halide Lamp (mercury vapor high pressure lamps containing halogen vapor) lights also produce ultraviolet light and this can cause problem to aquarium occupants if the lamp is operated without an ultraviolet screen or filter. They produce a considerable amount of heat
* When installing Metal Halide lighting system, it must be positioned at least 30cm (12 inches) above an open-topped tank surface
* A chiller can be used to offset any temperature gains
* The amount of light needed is very dependent on the types of invertebrate, the depth of tank and the spectrum of the lighting
* Generally speaking, it is recommended from a minimum of 1.5 watts per gallon to a maximum of 6 watts per gallon for reef tanks
* For examples, small Polyped Stoney Corals, such as Acropora, need strong light that is generally only afforded by high temperature Metal Halide lighting
